Peace begins
with people.
UPF New Zealand is an international and interreligious network rooted in Aotearoa, bringing together people of all backgrounds to build a culture of lasting peace — in our families, our communities, and our world.

Who We Are
We are an international and interreligious network of individuals and organisations — including representatives from religion, government, civil society, and the private sector — dedicated to achieving world peace.
A global vision,
a local home
The Universal Peace Federation was founded in 2005 by Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon with a vision captured in a single phrase: "The Hope of All Ages is a Unified World of Peace."
The New Zealand chapter grew from decades of peacebuilding work already taking root in Aotearoa. Today, UPF New Zealand operates from the Peace Embassy in Parnell, Auckland — a home for dialogue, prayer, and community across every tradition and background.
As New Zealanders, we are uniquely placed. We are members of the Blue Pacific community, neighbours to island nations navigating complex global pressures. We believe New Zealand has a special role to play in fostering peace, stability, and shared values across our region.
Each month our community gathers. Each year we mark the world's great days of peace alongside our neighbours — people of faith, people of goodwill, people who simply believe things can be better.

Three pillars of peace
These principles guide everything we do — from international dialogue to community gatherings in Auckland.
Interdependence
We recognise the intricate connections between all people and nations. Here in Aotearoa — a nation shaped by waves of migration and the enduring spirit of Te Tiriti — we live and work cooperatively, striving to meet one another's material and spiritual needs.
Mutual Prosperity
Sharing resources, knowledge, and opportunity so that no one is left behind. As members of the Blue Pacific community, we believe New Zealand has a special responsibility to uplift neighbours near and far.
Universal Values
Respecting and caring for one another as members of one human family. These values transcend borders, cultures, and faiths — they are the common ground on which lasting peace is built.

A community as diverse as Aotearoa
Whoever you are, whatever you believe — you are welcome here. Our events bring together people from across Auckland's rich tapestry of faith and culture. The common thread is a shared conviction: that peace is possible, and that it starts with how we treat one another.
World Interfaith Harmony Week
Faith leaders from across Auckland gather at the Peace Embassy to celebrate the UN-designated week of interfaith harmony.
UN Family Day
A community celebration of the family as the cornerstone of peaceful societies, aligned with the United Nations International Day of Families.
UN International Day of Peace
Collaborative prayers, reflections, and dialogue with local faith and ethnic communities across Auckland.
Youth and Family Peace Day
Our flagship annual event — a full-day programme of cultural performances, youth presentations, and marriage and family celebrations.
Living for the sake of others
An Ambassador for Peace is someone whose life embodies a simple but profound ideal: living for the sake of others. UPF works with a global network of Ambassadors who dedicate themselves to promoting universal moral values, strong family life, interreligious cooperation, and a global culture of peace.
Ambassadors for Peace come from every walk of life — religious leaders, community organisers, educators, parents, and young people who believe the world can be better.
